Late Collection After School

Dear Parents & Carers,

I hope you and your children have all enjoyed the summer holidays and the start of the new term. It has been lovely to see the children back in school last week.

Late collection of pupils at the end of the school day costs the school a significant amount of money each year. The school does not receive any government funds to pay staff beyond the end of the school day so there is no capacity to have pupils cared for after school unless staff are paid overtime. This is money that comes out of the pot that should be used for educational resources and enrichment activities. Clearly this is not an acceptable situation, as we want to provide the best possible learning opportunities for all of our pupils. In addition, pupils who are collected late often become upset as it makes them feel isolated and different from other pupils.

To ensure that school funds continue to be used in the most effective way, going forward, any pupil not collected by 3.25pm will be taken to the Canterbury Club and a charge will be made for the session.

Infant pupils (Reception to Year 2) finish at 3.10pm and should be collected by 3.15pm at the latest. Junior pupils finish at 3.15pm and should be collected no later than 3.20pm. If there is an emergency situation that means you are going to be late picking your child up, it is important that you call the school office before then end of the school day, giving staff an update on your expected arrival time at school.

Kind regards

Mr Skehan
