This week is Book Week!

Dear Parent/Carer,

This week is Book Week!

AUTHOR VISIT/BOOK-SIGNING:

We are very excited about our author visit from Cliff McNish on Wednesday who will be running interactive assemblies throughout the day.  He will also be signing pre-ordered books and giving any parents and children who are still interested in viewing his books, the opportunity to come along after school at 3:15pm on Wednesday 1st March to purchase a book and get it signed.  His books are all being sold at a discounted price of £5.  If any further copies are required, please order these directly from Cliff who will be positioned in the Junior Playground.

BOOK FAIRS:

You are also invited to attend our Book Fair on Friday 3rd March (Infant parents) and Monday 6th March (Junior Parents) at 3:15pm.  Come along and take a look at the fantastic books and stationery on offer.

This year, we will be able to accept credit/debit card, cash, pre-paid gift vouchers, or a mobile phone payment (just scan the QR code at the fair, find our school name, fill in your payment details for the price of the books you wish to buy).  Please remember to bring along your child’s £1 book token so that this can be taken off the price of your books! This will be given to them on Friday 3rd March.

If you want to pay via gift voucher, please visit https://bookfairs.scholastic.co.uk/gift-vouchers. Download and print your voucher then bring it along to spend at the fair.

SPONSORED READATHON:

Last year’s Readathon was a great success and we raised over £1400, enabling us to buy a diverse range of quality books for our school.  This year we would love to introduce the Readathon again in order to buy new classroom book furniture, and would really appreciate your help.  Please see the separate sponsorship form for more details.

DRESSING UP DAY & BOOK BUDDIES:

Finally, Friday 3rd March is our Dressing Up Day when we request that your child comes dressed as their favourite book character.

The children will be pairing up with a ‘Book Buddy’ from a different year group during the course of the day, to share their favourite books.  This is a great opportunity to make a new friend, share books and enjoy the pleasure of reading with each other!

Thank you so much in advance for all your support – we look forward to a fun and engaging Book Week ahead.

Kind regards,

Mrs Lee

(English Lead)
