As many of you are probably aware, last year a team of over 140 parents, staff and children from St Thomas Becket  took part in the 2016 Marsden March.  People either walked 14 miles, from the Royal Marsden Hospital in Chelsea to the Royal Marsden in Sutton or a shorter, 5 mile walk which also ended at the RMH, Sutton.

We did this primarily because one of our lovely year 6 boys was diagnosed with a brain tumour on Christmas Eve 2015 and, as a close school community, we wanted to show our support for him and his family by raising money for the hospital where he’s being treated.  However, all of us, either directly or indirectly have been affected by cancer so it’s a cause close to our hearts. We had a group Just Giving page and our final amount thanks to our very generous sponsors was just under  an amazing £24,000.

We’re doing the March again this year and our team has swelled to 220 walkers.  It’s on Sunday 19th March and although registration has now closed, your support is still vital. If you want to come and cheer us on that would be great, we’ll be wearing St Thomas Becket school ties so we’ll be easily identifiable.  You can find details of the route on:-

Please also help us to raise even more vital money to help fund research, treatment and support for those affected by cancer and their families.

Please share it far and wide!  We’ll be making this a yearly event so if you’d like to join Team Becket on the 2018 March please look out for information regarding this next January / February.

Thank you for your support.
